HIKE AND BIKE
When the warm wind causes the snow to melt, forests grow green and spring flowers colour the meadows, one can start for the mountain to meet a wonder world waiting to be re-discovered. This is the time to blend with the magnificence of nature and take an escape from everyday worries.Take the Sun’s Path by bike from the Rose Valley to Tryavna – the town of preserved National Revival Period authenticity; pass by Dryanovo, the birthplace of Master Kolyo Ficheto, and then visit Gabrovo with the Aprilov School and the House of Humour and Satire. Up to Sevlievo, the road is easy and pleasant and takes the traveler to Apriltsi, in the very heart of the Balkan. Along the old Roman road of Via Trayana, it leads to Troyan – the town of master potters – and to Teteven, stretching like a bow along the banks of Vit River, huddled in the lap of the mountain.
Give yourselves a break in Lovech and taste the aroma of blooming lilacs in May, then go to Gorna Oriahovitsa in June, join the Festival of Mountain Songs and take away a bunch of scarlet peonies.
The magical mountain with its fascinating cliffs, views and the peaks of Vejen, Maragidik, Mazalat, Shipka, Buzludja and Botev is a challenge to all courageous mountaineers. Qualified mountain guides are available for those who wish to be in the company of experienced professionals and to feel safe.
Sheer cliffs, precipices and picturesque caves in the vicinities of Dryanovo, Teteven and Troyan are the right place for those seeking the thrills of climbing.
